Burns Night At Craigieknowes

Today, our residents and staff joyfully celebrated Burns Night with a hearty spread of authentic Scottish fare, including haggis, neeps and tatties. We relished the rousing Address to a Haggis, followed by an unforgettable bagpipe performance from talented young Charlie. The haunting skirl of the pipes, paired with a wee dram of fine whisky and delicious fresh homemade shortbread, fostered a warm, nostalgic vibe filled with laughter and shared stories from previous celebrations. Burns Night is Scotland’s annual celebration of the poet Robert “Rabbie” Burns, held on his birthday, 25 January. It began in the early 1800s when his friends gathered to honour his memory, and it has grown into a key date in Scotland’s cultural calendar. For many Scots like ourselves, it expresses national pride, shared heritage and the enduring power of Burns’s words about love, equality and ordinary life.

A big thanks to Charlie and all who helped make it truly unforgettable.
