Craigieknowes Care Home Strikes Gold At Go4Gold 2026

Residents at Craigieknowes Care Home, Perth, are celebrating after being crowned champions of the Go4Gold Perth & Kinross Games 2026, taking first place against care home teams from across the region.

The annual Go4Gold event brings together care homes from across Perth and Kinross for a fun-filled day of sports, games and activities, encouraging older people to get active, have fun and enjoy some friendly competition.

This year, Craigieknowes Care Home entered the competition as the ‘Ageless Seniors’, with residents spending weeks preparing for the big event.

Preparations involved the whole home, with residents helping to choose their team name and design a sculpture, as well as getting involved in practice sessions and challenges including football, golf putting, beer pong and netball.

When the big day arrived, residents Yvonne, Ian and Jack were chosen to proudly represent Craigieknowes at the Go4Gold Perth & Kinross Games.

Their efforts certainly paid off, with the trio delivering a fantastic performance and securing first place overall, bringing the coveted Go4Gold trophy back to Craigieknowes.

The victory was made even more special by the contribution of residents throughout the home, whose enthusiasm, practice and encouragement helped the Ageless Seniors on their way to becoming the 2026 champions.

Laura, Activities Assistant at Craigieknowes Care Home, said:

“We are so proud of everyone who participated in all of our practice sessions. It was brilliant to see so many residents getting involved, having fun and supporting each other.

“Yvonne, Ian and Jack did an amazing job representing Craigieknowes on the day and bringing the trophy home. Well done everyone – you’re all superstars!”

Following the competition, residents and colleagues continued the celebrations back at Craigieknowes with a special party to mark the team’s success.

The home’s first-place finish was a fantastic celebration of teamwork, enthusiasm and community spirit, with residents already proudly displaying their status as Go4Gold Perth & Kinross Games 2026 champions.
